The world is filled with evil. Thieves, robbers, murderers, and oppressors do what they want, taking advantage of the innocent, turning them into victims. Ferene hates the world. A killer that refuses to be a victim, she turns her blade on the thieves and murderers, lessening the evil in the world one life at a time. Yet the world is made up of more than single lives, single evils, single deeds.

This is a grim fantasy story. It is not:

• a high fantasy story with magic, gods, and heroes
