When Fate calls for destruction, what can Choice even do?
In a peaceful world, where the roars of war are faraway and forgotten, only whispers at dusk keep memories and warnings of brutality alive. Louder are the cheers of the once warlike Arrkad'vla Empire celebrating strength and valor. Countless there set out to bask in these applauses, among whose ranks is a young, barely educated young man. To be the Kraturr, or the Emperor, all he needs to do is be considered the strongest. He knows what changes he wants to implement once in power — but does he understand the gravity of Change?
Home of the Dusk is a High Fantasy tale in the form of an age old 'Coming of Age' tale that looks like a 'Quest for Power'. But any glance beneath that surface will reveal a complex world, complicated people, and questions tearing down assumptions — of power, strength, decadance and progress.
What else to expect?
- A powerful, evolving and flawed protagonist, who isn't a plot driven edgelord/memelord.
- Presence of other people's voices in the narrative besides the protagonist's. Keeps the story polyphonic, never letting it be an echo chamber of the MC.
- Progress of power accompanied by progress in the Philosophical and Psychological aspects. Never letting characters just be vehicles for power.
- A different 'magic' system that won't immediately make itself crystal clear. Honoring the complexity of knowledge. So, no Tables, Skills, numbers and RPG Systems.
- A vast, expansive world with never-seen-before-in-fiction world structure. The internal logic and fundamental truths will take time to be apparent to the readers.
- Slow burn beginning that accelerates in pace as the story advances.
- Longer chapters for better immersion and development of mood, which leads to shorter chapter count .
- Vibrant prosody! For the pleasure of you who want good writing besides a good story!
- A thought-provoking story that promises to do justice to what it is representing. Not a mindless read.
- An old tale written by a modern hand with a new outlook!
